Attribute minimization You can use <video controls=”controls”> in order to work with XHTML strict rules. The same goes to <input checked=”checked” disabled=”disabled” />

If you don’t want the controls simply don’t write it.

According to my understanding from this lesson, Video tag in HTML is met for raw videos, with a control attribute that gives more information about videos tag, the control attribute's main work is to put some extra functionality like the play and pause button to video tag. Video tag alone can not work without having another child tag which is the source tag as a self-closing tag with also an attribute that gives more formation or link.
